Crane Crash Avoidance Systems

System Details

The WADECO MicroRobo-3 crane crash avoidance system is our latest state-of-the-art system. It consists of four components, two proprietary microwave rangefinders and two custom designed microwave reflectors. As seen in the illustration above, one rangefinder and one reflector is mounted on each crane. Each rangefinder measures the distance from the reflector on the opposing crane and outputs this distance as an analog signal. In addition two digital limits can be set. One for a distance to slow the crane and the other for a distance to stop the crane.


Special Features

REFLECTOR TYPE

  • - Even if one crane's power supply is disconnected, the crash avoidance system on the other crane is still fully functional.

DISTANCE-MEASUREMENT TYPE, TWO OUTPUTS

  • - One digital output that is set to the "slow crane" distance selected by the operator.
  • - One digital output that is set to the "stop crane" distance selected by the operator.
  • - The distance setting adjustment is simple utilizing on-board rotary switches.

ANALOG OUTPUT

  • - The measured distance between cranes is output as an analog current signal.

UNAFFECTED BY ADVERSE ENVIRONMENTS

  • - Microwaves are generally unaffected by environmental conditions, thus the sensor is unaffected by rain, wind, snow, frost, heavy dust, smoke or vapor.

NO BEAM SLIPPAGE

  • - Beam adjustment is easy because the beam is conical-shaped and therefore there will be no errors caused by the slipping of the beam.

NO SET-T0-SET INTERFERENCE

  • - This permits the use of multiple MicroRobo-3 units in close proximity to each other..

ENCLOSURE RATED AT IP65 EQUIVALENT

  • - The unit is designed to operate and survive in a harsh industrial environment.
